DIFFERENT CAMERA SHOTS IN MEDIA

MEDIA- PRACTICAL VOCAB

Establishing shot – begins the scene mainly in movies at the beginning to set the scene. First shot of the film. Sets up the mood and genre of the movie

Close up shots- to show emotion or detail
e.g when someone is about to die and there is a close up shot at his face to show emotion and detail

Medium shot- to show body language and dialogue head to waist and the most common shot in film

Long shot- shows the entire figure and the surroundings E.G when someone falls down a cliff the distance of the camera is far away

Tracking shot- it follows the figure or object at a certain distance at a certain amount of time. E.G like when someone goes into a restaurant and the cameraman will follow him
We have seen the sarah jane adventures transcript and i have noticed a lot happening. even though we have not seen the the actual episode we can see by looking at the text it is simple. for example it says

GILL moves cautiously down another corridor. From her jacket pocket she takes something - a small ACTIVATOR DISC, its covered in alien runes.

FX SHOT: It starts to glow, dimly.

this makes it easier for the director and the camera team because they can see what to film, how to film and also when to film it. afterwards it helps the audience to know whatever is happening in the episode.

Scripts

first we looked at the script and we looked at the program and their were alot of similarities. Like it was reading the program itself and you could imagine the scene reading the script.
the int stands for interior so we know if it is inside or out and ext is exterior for outside. the place of the scene is in brackets to show where it is and then the day with the time. This will affect our script because it is a total different genre. It will also effect our script because it is in a different location. but it has helped us to write our script because it has given us the layout for us to write our script with the int\ext for inside and outside then the location in brackets so they know where to act it. And finally the character name and their line, just like below.

SCENE 1164/2. SLATERS'. INT. DAY LIGHT.
