DIFFERENT CAMERA SHOTS IN MEDIA

MEDIA- PRACTICAL VOCAB

Establishing shot – begins the scene mainly in movies at the beginning to set the scene. First shot of the film. Sets up the mood and genre of the movie

Close up shots- to show emotion or detail
e.g when someone is about to die and there is a close up shot at his face to show emotion and detail

Medium shot- to show body language and dialogue head to waist and the most common shot in film

Long shot- shows the entire figure and the surroundings E.G when someone falls down a cliff the distance of the camera is far away

Tracking shot- it follows the figure or object at a certain distance at a certain amount of time. E.G like when someone goes into a restaurant and the cameraman will follow him

  1. Some good detail here Asadullah, you have described the shots well. Make sure you think about these descriptions as you prepare your own script; always think about how you will visually present your scenes.
